About Bill Bu
Bill Bu is a point-of-sale for Indian retail. It came out of a simple observation: most shops here are running either a paper book or software written for a warehouse, and neither one tells the owner what they actually made this month.
GST made accurate records compulsory. It did not make them easy. The gap between what a shopkeeper has to file and what their billing software can produce is where most of the frustration lives — and that gap is what we set out to close.
The counter comes first
A cashier with a queue in front of them cannot wait for a page to think. Billing is the one screen we optimise above everything else — search that finds an item in two letters, and a sale that closes in a couple of taps.
Correct beats clever
Tax rates are copied onto every bill at the moment of sale. Stock moves are written in the same transaction as the sale that caused them. It is less exciting than it sounds, and it is the reason your books reconcile.
Built for how shops really buy
Stock arrives in lots at different prices. The same item sells by piece and by box. Regulars pay next week. Most billing software treats these as edge cases; here they're the design.
